London City Airport is a single runway airport located on a former Docklands site in Newham in East London. London City Airport is at its busiest during the winter months, when a rise in passengers is due to flights to various winter sports and ski resorts. London City Airport is small compared to the other four London airports, allowing travellers to benefit from quick turnarounds and a short pier, enabling passengers to check-in as little as 15 minutes before takeoff. London City Airport has what is believed to be the closest private jet centre to Central London, and because the London Olympics will be held less than 20 miles away, plans are currently being made to redevelop London City Airport to cope with the increased passenger traffic.
