London Stansted Airport is a large passenger airport with a single runway and hub for a number of major European low-cost airlines. London Stansted Airport is 56km north-east of London, close to Stevenage and Chelmsford just off the M11 motorway at Junction 8. London Stansted Airport is the third largest airport serving the London area after London Heathrow and London Gatwick. If you are travelling into London, on leaving the airport follow signs for the M11 and continue south for about 20 minutes until you join the M25 London Orbital motorway at Junction 27 and follow signs into central London. In April of this year a major expansion program to the existing terminal began and to add nearly 6000 square meters of floor space which is designed to give space for additional baggage carousels, a new immigration and passport control hall and an arrivals hall with improved facilities.
